An Overview:
Built in 1701, the Telles de Mello Palace was the urban dwelling of a family belonging to the nobility, the secretaries of war date of kings D. João V and José I: the Telles de Mello. Following the earthquake that struck Lisbon in 1755 has undergone several changes, including the opening of a service door in the Calçada do Cascão and access to the chapel by the noble portal. Later, in 1868, the palace was converted into income through building after extensive renovations inside. The Telles de Mello Palace has four facades, two of them accompanying and define the eastern boundary of Remedios Street and the initial section of Calçada do Cascão. It stands in Alfama by its dimensions and by the provision out of the ordinary of its four facades.
